As Christmas nears, I wonder what on earth I’m doing starting a website and blog. In this current stage of my life, time is such a peak resource. It’s so hard to find enough of it! When you do find usable chunks of time, it seems like every one in the neighbourhood knows about it and wants a piece of it. So I return to my question… why am I going to invest sizeable amounts of my free time to maintaining and grow this website?
Well, the answer is quite Einsteinian. Time is relative. Long boring or arduous chunks of the stuff never seem to pass, while fun, passion filled units fly past. The current fuel driving this website is passion and enthusiastic creativeness. I look forward to blogging about the things that make my time fly. That said, the sad reality is that we all live in a time poor society, where many long hours are spent on mundane or tedious endeavours.
Because of this somewhat bipolar measurement for a unit of time, starting from the new year, I’ll reveal all my favourite time management hacks to help you squeeze more time out of, uhmm, well, time actually. I have been hacking time for the last 12 years; optimizing workflow methodologies and tweaking time-rebate schemes.
Most of the hacks I have perfected are based on a modern work lifestyle and are a mash-up of all things time management. Yes I have studied Getting Things Done, Franklin Covey, Do It Tomorrow, Just in Time, Pomodoro and the list continues. All these time management skills are extremely valuable, but are often daunting to the novice. The time hacks I’ll provide are a distilled and filtered list of cheats, tips and tricks to turn you into an efficient time displacer.
Come join me on this time warp in January 2012!
